Preparations are in full swing for the much-anticipated Boxing on Boxing Day event, set to take place at Warehouse Masaki in Dar es Salaam on December 26.
The city is abuzz as local and international fighters get ready to face off in a series of thrilling bouts.
Tanzanian boxing star Hassan Mwakinyo is scheduled to clash with Nigeria’s Stanley Eribo in one of the headline fights.
Speaking from his training camp in Pugu Mnadani, Ismail Khalid, popularly known as “Boyka,” warned that his opponents have underestimated him.
“My rivals have set a trap for me, but they don’t fully understand my strength in the ring. I am training hard with my coach to achieve clear results. I urge my fans to secure their tickets early there will be no second chances,” Boyka said confidently.
In the women’s division, Leila Macho from Kivita Mburahati officially named Hidaya Zahoro from Morogoro as her opponent. Leila expressed confidence in her superior skills and power.
“Hidaya is only looking for comfort she won’t survive my speed and strength. I will use my experience and technique to finish the fight decisively,” Leila said.
Her fans echoed her confidence, noting that Hidaya’s record cannot match the prowess of “Dada Jambazi.”
Other exciting matchups include Hamadi Furahisha versus Malawian Hanock Phiri, Ally Ngwando taking on Mussa Makuka, and Issa Simba from Kahama facing Wilson Phiri of Malawi.
In the women’s fights, Hidaya Zahoro will go up against Leila Macho, while Debora Mwenda is set to meet Malawian Mariam Dick in the ring.
