Dar es Salaam Police call for safe and peaceful New Year celebrations

By The Respondents Reporter

As Tanzanians prepare to welcome 2026, the Dar es Salaam Police are urging citizens to celebrate safely, responsibly, and peacefully.

The force is actively working to prevent and respond to criminal acts across the city in partnership with other security agencies and the community.

The police have cautioned against dangerous actions such as setting tires on fire on roads or in public areas, and using fireworks without official permission.

Individuals or groups found engaging in such acts, which may cause fear or disturb the public, will face immediate legal action.

Dar es Salaam Police will also continue collaborating with residents and religious leaders to ensure safety in places of worship and other public spaces during the festive period.

Residents, business owners, and office managers are reminded to secure homes, offices, and commercial premises throughout the celebrations.

The police extend their best wishes to all citizens for a safe, joyful, and peaceful New Year.
