UK tourism agents explore Tanzania to boost European market appeal

A delegation of leading tourism agents from the United Kingdom is in Tanzania to tour major conservation sites as part of efforts to expand the country’s visibility and appeal in the European tourism market.

The group, led by Debbie Mayger, arrived at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCAA) on 29 November 2025.

Mayger said the visit aims to deepen their understanding of Tanzania’s rich tourism offerings, including its cultural heritage, diverse wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, natural conservation efforts, and coastal attractions.

“We have heard a lot about Tanzania. European tourists have a strong interest in wildlife tourism, the Ngorongoro Crater, UNESCO world heritage sites, the Ngorongoro–Lengai Geopark, and the diverse cultures within conservation areas,” Mayger said.

“They also value environmental protection, hospitality, and the peace that Tanzania offers. This visit gives us firsthand experience that will help us market the country better, and we are confident it will attract more visitors from Europe.”he added

Welcoming the delegation, NCAA Senior Marketing Officer Michael Makombe said the familiarisation tour reflects ongoing government efforts to strengthen destination marketing through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, conservation agencies, and private-sector partners.

He noted that the agents’ visit to Ngorongoro aims to help them understand key attractions and promote them within their home markets, encouraging more travellers to experience Tanzania’s wildlife, culture, environment, cuisine, and historical sites.

The agents, representing the UK-based company Shades of Green, have already toured Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

They are expected to continue their safari with visits to Serengeti National Park and other destinations across the northern circuit.
