The Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) has reinforced its leadership team by promoting three officers to Assistant Commissioner positions, a move aimed at boosting the protection and management of the nation’s forests for the benefit of citizens.
The promoted officers Mathew Ntilicha, former Acting Commander of the Eastern Zone; Getruda Nganyagwa, former Acting Commander of the Southern Highlands Zone; and Emanuel Laizer, former Acting Chief Internal Auditor have been recognized for their integrity, accountability, and commitment to reducing forest destruction in their regions.
Speaking at the ceremony in Morogoro on November 14, 2025, TFS Commissioner of Conservation, Prof. Dos Santos Silayo, emphasized that their new roles carry both honor and responsibility.
“Promotion is not just recognition it is a commitment to serve the nation and its people. The work you do directly impacts the environment, livelihoods, and the economy. Citizens depend on our forests for clean air, water, and jobs, and your leadership is vital in safeguarding these resources,” Prof. Silayo said.
He urged the officers to carry out their duties with professionalism, integrity, and adherence to public service ethics, noting that TFS is counting on them to lead by example and inspire trust among communities.
Prof. Silayo also called on newly trained TFS staff to apply discipline, knowledge, and ethical standards as they begin field assignments, ensuring that local communities receive effective forest management and environmental protection services.
“The nation relies on you to protect forests and natural resources. Your actions will shape the environment and livelihoods of citizens today and for future generations,” he added.
The ceremony was attended by senior TFS officials, underscoring the agency’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and innovative management practices that directly benefit Tanzanian citizens.
