Aspiring pool players across Tanzania have been called to register for open trials to join the national pool team, set for November 17 in Dar es Salaam.

The national team is preparing to compete in the All African Pool Championship, scheduled for February 2026 in South Africa.

Wilfred Makamba, Chairman of the Tanzania Pool Association (TAPA), told The Respondent Online that registration opened on November 10 and will close on November 14.

He emphasized that only active TAPA members can participate in the trials. “To qualify, every participant must pay an annual membership fee of TZS 20,000 to become an active member of TAPA,” Makamba said.

The trials will select 15 players for the national team, including eight men and seven women.

Makamba added that early preparations aim to ensure the team is ready on time. He also called on sports stakeholders and the public to support the initiative, highlighting the chance for Tanzania to make its mark on the international pool stage.
