Tanzania affirms full security preparedness ahead of December 9

The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has moved to reassure the public that peace and security will be firmly maintained on December 9, amid circulating rumours of planned demonstrations.

Government Chief Spokesperson Gerson Msigwa delivered the assurance on November 23, 2025, during a press briefing in Dar es Salaam. 

He noted that the government is aware of the speculation surrounding potential demonstrations and is actively following developments to ensure the safety of all.

Mr. Msigwa stressed that the government has made comprehensive preparations, consistent with its long-standing commitment to safeguard public safety during national events and regular days alike. 

He said security agencies remain on high alert and are ready to respond swiftly to any indicators of disruption.

He underscored that the government’s priority is to protect Tanzanians and their property, urging the public to carry on with their daily routines confidently, knowing that security measures are firmly in place.

According to him, maintaining national stability is essential for development, and the government will continue to uphold peace as a shared national value.
