Mbeya’s Special Seats Member of Parliament, Suma Fyandomo, officially made her return to the National Assembly on Tuesday, pledging to champion the interests of her region and strengthen the role of women in shaping Tanzania’s development agenda.
The Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) lawmaker, now serving her second term, was formally introduced in Parliament in Dodoma after completing her registration on Monday, ahead of the 13th Parliament’s sessions set to begin soon.
Speaking after the brief ceremony, Fyandomo said her return to the House renews her sense of duty to advocate for better services, equal opportunities, and economic empowerment for the people of Mbeya and beyond.
“I am grateful for the trust placed in me to continue representing the people of Mbeya. My focus will be on ensuring that national policies reflect the realities on the ground—especially those affecting women, youth, and rural communities,” she added.
Political analysts view Fyandomo’s reappointment as a boost to CCM’s representation from the southern highlands, given her previous record of engagement in parliamentary committees and grassroots initiatives focused on education, health, and entrepreneurship.
Her comeback also coincides with a critical period as the 13th Parliament prepares to deliberate on key national priorities, including economic transformation, social welfare, and good governance.
Fyandomo’s continued presence, observers note, underscores the growing role of women leaders in shaping Tanzania’s political and economic landscape.
