Dougras Massaburi has officially been sworn in as the first-ever Member of Parliament for the newly created Kivule Constituency, representing the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
The oath was administered today in Dodoma by the Speaker of the National Assembly during a brief but dignified ceremony attended by fellow lawmakers, parliamentary staff, and invited guests.
His swearing-in marks the formal start of his tenure in the 13th Parliament, positioning him to represent and advocate for the people of Kivule a constituency born out of the 2025 electoral boundary review aimed at improving citizen representation and participation in governance.
Speaking shortly after taking the oath, Massaburi pledged to dedicate his term to advancing the welfare of Kivule residents and promoting inclusive development across the constituency.
“This is a new beginning for Kivule. I am deeply honored by the trust placed in me and fully committed to working with all stakeholders to deliver tangible progress for our people,” he said.
Kivule, one of Tanzania’s fastest-growing areas, was established as a new constituency to reflect rapid population growth and increasing economic activity, particularly in housing and commerce.
With his entry into Parliament, Massaburi now becomes part of a broader national effort to strengthen representation and ensure equitable development across emerging urban and peri-urban areas.
His appointment is also seen as a symbol of continuity in the government’s commitment to inclusive governance under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
For many in Kivule, today’s swearing-in ceremony signifies more than just a political milestone it is the start of a new chapter in their community’s pursuit of progress and better livelihoods.
