The Executive Director of the Mbeya District Council, Ms. Erica E. Yegella, has handed over state-of-the-art communication equipment to the Council’s Communication Unit, in a move aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening information flow between the local government and residents.

The tools include a Canon 6D Mark II camera, a 24–105mm lens, a camera tripod stand, a memory card, a speedlight, and a high-performance laptop capable of running advanced graphic design and video editing software.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Ms. Yegella said the investment is part of the Council’s broader strategy to enhance communication systems and ensure timely dissemination of development information to the public.

“We recognize the importance of strengthening the Communication Unit as it serves as a bridge between the Government and the people. With this modern equipment, we expect improved speed, accuracy, and quality in sharing information about our development activities,” said Ms. Yegella.

She added that effective communication is critical in ensuring that citizens remain informed and engaged in local development initiatives, in line with the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

On her part, the Head of the Communication Unit, Ms. Fatina Msangi, expressed appreciation for the support, saying the tools would significantly boost the team’s morale and productivity.

“We are grateful to the Executive Director for her continued trust and practical support. These tools will enhance our ability to document, design, and share accurate and timely information about the Council’s projects and services,” Ms. Msangi said.

She noted that the new equipment will also help improve the quality of photos, videos, and publications produced by the unit, enabling the Council to better showcase its development achievements.

The Mbeya District Council has been stepping up efforts to modernize its communication and service delivery systems in line with the directives of the Sixth-Phase Government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, which emphasizes digital transformation and citizen-centered governance.
