Tanzanian star athlete Alphonce Felix Simbu has qualified for the finals of the prestigious World Athlete of the Year awards, set to take place on November 30 in Monaco, France.

Simbu will face off against Kenya’s Sebastian Sawe in the final stage of the competition, which recognizes the best athletes globally.

Speaking to The Respondents Online, Rogath Stephen, President of the Tanzania Athletics Association (AT), said Simbu left the country today, November 27, accompanied by the association’s Secretary-General.

Stephen expressed pride in Simbu’s achievement, noting that he is the first Tanzanian athlete to reach the global finals in any sport.

“This success is not ours alone. We are grateful to all stakeholders and media outlets who have been at the forefront in promoting Simbu throughout his athletic journey, from the early stages to now,” he said.

He also extended thanks to presidents of athletics federations worldwide for supporting Simbu and endorsing the requests to back him in achieving his goals.

“We have high hopes that Simbu will win this award. Most importantly, we encourage Tanzanians to continue cheering for him,” Stephen added.
