Rising Star Tennis Series postponed

The maiden Rising Star Juniors Tennis Series scheduled for this weekend in Morogoro Region has been postponed to a date to be announced.

 

Rajabu Mussa who is one of the tournament organizers said the event has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances which are beyond their control.

 

He said the tournament  was  aimed at promoting Tennis among the youth in the country. and was to be held for  two days at two venues: Morogoro Hotel and Morogoro Gymkhana Clubs.

 

“  The aim is aimed at promoting Tennis among Juniors in the region and the country as whole, all was set for the tournament but we have postponed it to a letter date which will be announced soon,” he said in a brief response.

 

In the previous interview Mussa said they expect more than 30 Juniors from across the country to compete at the tournament.

 

He disclosed that the tournament is sponsored by parents ,Morogoro based tennis coaches and Marhaba Pharmacy,he called upon tennis stakeholders and the corporate world to sponsor the junior event.

 

Mussa said the tournament will involve boys and girls Under 6,8,10 and twelve and invitations were   extended to tennis clubs from Zanzibar ,Dodoma ,Dar es salaam ,Arusha and other areas .

 

He said best performing Juniors at the tournament will be in Tanzania Tennis Association (TTA)database,saying the aim is to closely monitor them (players).

 

"We are now serious on the Juniors ,the country has seen many promising young tennis players ,but they lost in transit ,we don't want a repeat to this ,we will be closely monitoring them ,we want to see them playing tennis at senior levels,"he was quoted saying.
