Othman embarks on Pemba tour to reinforce party unity

ACT Wazalendo national chairperson and former Zanzibar presidential candidate, Othman Masoud Othman, has begun a four-day tour in Pemba aimed at consolidating party unity and renewing political momentum following the October 29 General Election.

The tour commenced in Chake Chake, where hundreds of supporters gathered at the party’s regional coordination office in Gombani to welcome him. The visit is viewed as a significant step in reconnecting the party’s leadership with its grassroots base.

Addressing supporters, Mr. Othman underscored the need for Zanzibaris to safeguard peace, dignity and unity as the foundation for national stability.

He warned that failure to uphold democratic principles could lead to tensions that threaten the social fabric.

“This is not a time for anyone to underestimate us,” he said. “Every Zanzibari has a responsibility to protect justice. We will not allow ourselves to be sidelined or disrespected.” His remarks drew strong applause from the gathering.

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to advocating for free and fair elections, government transparency, and meaningful citizen participation in decision-making processes.

“We want a Zanzibar built on accountability, equality and respect,” he said. “Our goal is to secure a democratic environment that guarantees fairness for every citizen. That is the legacy we want for future generations.”

Mr. Othman also expressed appreciation to party members for their continued confidence and encouraged them to sustain community engagement efforts focused on unity, development and ethical politics.

During the tour, he is expected to meet with regional leaders, party branches and members of the public across all four party zones in Pemba.

Discussions will focus on local concerns, political priorities and the direction of Zanzibar’s governance landscape in the coming months.
