A new batch of 4,826 police cadets has graduated from the Police College in Moshi, ready to support national security and community safety across Tanzania.

The graduating class includes 3,436 men and 1,390 women, who have completed rigorous basic training designed to prepare them for modern policing challenges.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Camillus Wambura, speaking at the closing ceremony of the first police training course for the 2024/25 academic year, highlighted the critical role of these cadets in combating threats such as global terrorism, drug abuse, human trafficking, and illegal migration.

“Security is the foundation of development and human well-being. These cadets are now entrusted with protecting citizens and ensuring peace prevails in every corner of our country,” IGP Wambura said.

He further urged Tanzanians to cooperate with law enforcement in tackling crime and maintaining national safety.

The IGP also stressed the importance of unity, warning against divisions based on politics, religion, or resources.

“We must continue to safeguard the peace and security that has kept our nation stable for decades. Together, we can ensure a safe and secure environment for all,” he added.

College Principal Ramadhan Mungi noted that 217 cadets were dismissed during the training due to disciplinary or academic shortcomings, underscoring the college’s commitment to producing disciplined and capable officers.

As Tanzania faces evolving security challenges, the new cadets are expected to play a vital role in strengthening law enforcement and protecting communities nationwide.
