The National Basketball League (NBL) playoffs are set to light up Dodoma from November 26 to December 6, drawing top basketball talent from across Tanzania.
Mwenza Kabinda, Deputy Parmanent Secretary of the Tanzania Basketball Federation, said 36 teams from various regions will compete in the knockout stage, including 20 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams.
“Tanzania is a proud member of FIBA Africa Zone 5, and this league serves as a platform to select our international representatives for both men and women,” Kabinda noted.
He highlighted that the National League will determine teams representing Tanzania in major international competitions, including BAL1 for men, AWBL2 for women, and the East Africa Champions Cup (EACC) for men.
Kabinda urged all teams to prepare thoroughly to ensure strong performances, both at home and on the international stage, proudly showcasing Tanzania’s basketball talent.
The player registration window opened on November 8 and will close on November 18, allowing teams sufficient time to complete preparations for the playoffs.
He also reminded regional leaders to notify all qualifying teams to participate in the knockout stage. In addition, foreign players must submit a copy of their passport, a transfer letter, and proof of international clearance, such as a Letter of Clearance (Lo).
