The government has been urged to fast-track the recruitment of 12,000 new public servants to ensure young Tanzanians benefit from President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s latest job initiative.
Minister of State in the President’s Office for Public Service Management and Good Governance, Ridhiwani Kikwete, made the call on Monday during his first official visit to the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat since assuming office on November 18, 2025.
He said the recruitment process must be efficient, transparent, and free from any form of bias.
“The approval for these jobs is already in place. Now, it is important to speed up the process so that young Tanzanians can access these opportunities without delay,” Kikwete said.
“Transparency is key to eliminating any doubts of favouritism. We must recruit qualified and deserving candidates who will strengthen public service delivery.”he added
The 12,000 new positions, announced by President Samia on November 14 during the opening of the 13th Parliament, include 7,000 roles in education and 5,000 in the health sector.
Kikwete emphasized that the move is part of the government’s broader plan to improve public service performance and service delivery across the country.
He also called on the Secretariat to exercise fairness and support in guiding staff under their supervision, stressing that respectful leadership enhances efficiency and morale in public institutions.
Kikwete’s directives highlight the government’s commitment to expanding employment opportunities for youth while ensuring the public service remains accountable, professional, and transparent.
