Government accelerates drive for clean cooking energy nationwide

By The Respondents Reporter

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting clean cooking energy, aiming to ensure that by 2034, at least 80% of Tanzanians use safe and environmentally friendly energy for cooking.

Ms. Neema Mbuja, Chief of Government Communications at the Ministry of Energy, said the move reflects President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision of improving public health, protecting the environment, and enhancing community well-being through clean energy.

Speaking on TBC1’s Jambo Tanzania program during the Jikoni na Chigo segment today, November 25, 2024, Ms. Mbuja said the interview is part of the Ministry’s ongoing media outreach.

“We are engaging the public to educate them on the benefits of clean cooking energy and why it is essential for health and the environment,” she said.

She added that the Ministry will continue working closely with communities, partners, and stakeholders to expand awareness, ensuring that the national strategy on clean energy reaches all citizens.

This approach, she stressed, is key to driving practical action that improves lives and safeguards Tanzania’s natural resources.
