The Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, has directed the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) to intensify creativity and innovative approaches as part of efforts to help the Government reach its target of attracting 8 million tourists by 2030.

Dr. Kijaji issued the directive in Morogoro during her working visit to Mikumi National Park, where she inspected ongoing development projects and held discussions with TANAPA’s management.

She emphasized that meeting the national tourism targets will require enhanced innovation, stronger international marketing strategies, and renewed efforts to support President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision as highlighted in The Tanzania Royal Tour and Amazing Tanzania films.

“We need innovation across all our 21 national parks. Everyone must identify something unique that gives tourists a reason to return to Tanzania. Let’s introduce new tourism products every year,” Dr. Kijaji stressed.

Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Hamad Hassan Chande, underscored that despite notable progress in conservation and tourism, more must be done to promote Tanzania’s attractions particularly to boost domestic tourism and revenue.

“We must promote the beauty we have. This natural blessing is rare, and we must continue protecting it while strengthening collaboration in marketing our attractions,” Chande said.

Delivering regional remarks, Morogoro Regional Commissioner Adam Malima commended the ministry for improving road infrastructure and accommodation facilities within Mikumi National Park, a move that has spurred tourist visits and strengthened the region’s economy.

The visit was also attended by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Hassan Abbasi, along with senior officials from various departments and institutions under the ministry.
