The Kigoma Regional Police have dismissed circulating rumors on social media alleging that Father Josephat Misigaro, the Parish Priest of Nguruka Parish, and two local residents, including a man named Vedasto, were arrested for a crime.
In a public statement issued on 22 November 2025, the Regional Police Commander of Kigoma Region said the reports are false.
Police confirmed that Father Misigaro was questioned on 20 November 2025 regarding a criminal allegation but was released immediately afterward.
Regarding Vedasto, authorities stated that no missing person report has been filed. The police urged anyone who has lost contact with him to visit the nearest police station to lodge an official report for proper investigation.
The Kigoma Police reassured the public that the situation is being closely monitored, and efforts are underway to identify those spreading false information to ensure they face appropriate action.
Residents are reminded to verify information before sharing it online to prevent unnecessary panic and confusion in the community.
