Kazimoto urges peaceful dialogue to protect national harmony

Ms. Christina Kazimoto, a mother and entrepreneur, has called on parents and guardians to actively engage their children and youth in conversations about the importance of peace and the role each citizen plays in safeguarding it. She emphasized that peace is a cornerstone for personal well-being and national development.

Ms. Kazimoto’s appeal comes in the wake of rising incidents of unrest, violence, and divisive messages circulating on social media.

She warned young people against being swayed by events in other countries, noting that not everyone appreciates the unity, love, and peace currently enjoyed by Tanzanians.

Reflecting on the aftermath of the October 29, 2025, general elections, Ms. Kazimoto condemned the disruption that followed, highlighting its negative impact on daily life.

“Transportation halted, food services became scarce, many shops closed in fear, rice prices rose from 2,000 to 5,000 shillings, and even boda boda fares jumped from 1,000 to 5,000 shillings. We have learned the value of peace, and I urge young people not to jeopardize it again,” she said.

She further stressed the importance of seeking justice through proper channels, advocating for dialogue between those experiencing grievances and their leaders.

“No issue is unsolvable when approached through peaceful discussion and negotiation,” Ms. Kazimoto added.

Her message underscores a call for collective responsibility in nurturing a peaceful society, reminding Tanzanians that unity and harmony remain essential for progress and prosperity.
