The Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT) has backed President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s call for a national reconciliation process following the October 29, 2025 General Election.

The Council urged the government to hold an inclusive dialogue with all stakeholders to review recent events and strengthen national unity, peace, and justice.

Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam, CCT Chairperson Bishop Dr. Stanley Hotay said the Council fully supports the President’s initiative to promote harmony across the country.

“CCT recommends a national dialogue involving all stakeholders to evaluate what happened and put in place strategies to reinforce peace, unity, and reconciliation, as President Samia emphasized,” Dr. Hotay said.

He added that the government should also provide humanitarian support to families affected by election incidents, assist those injured, and take steps to restore calm. “True peace can only be achieved when justice is served,” he said.

Dr. Hotay highlighted the Church’s commitment to working with the government, civil society, and other faith groups to ensure Tanzania remains a model of stability, mutual respect, and national cohesion.

This endorsement comes as President Samia urges all Tanzanians to embrace dialogue and work together for a peaceful and united nation.
