Dr Samia directs new Prime Minister to uphold diligent public service

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has urged newly appointed Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba to discharge his duties with professionalism, integrity and commitment, saying Tanzanians expect efficient leadership that delivers real development outcomes.

Dr. Nchemba was sworn in on Thursday at the Chamwino State House in Dodoma, in a ceremony attended by senior government officials. 

President Samia presented him with special handbooks detailing his responsibilities as head of government business, noting that the documents will guide him as he begins his new role.

“We have evaluated various areas of national service, and the most important duty remains serving the people of the United Republic of Tanzania,” President Samia said. 

“Your responsibilities and directives are all in the Constitution, but I have also handed you books outlining your duties and everything that you are required to oversee.”she added

The President also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, acknowledging his contribution to implementing flagship development initiatives under the sixth-phase government.

“You are receiving the baton from our brother, Former Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, who did an excellent job,” she said.

 “The progress we pride ourselves on today the construction of schools, health centres and zonal hospitals he has stood behind me to ensure these succeed. You are inheriting the baton from a hardworking leader, and I trust you will follow in his footsteps and improve where necessary.”he added

President Samia reaffirmed the government’s goal to accelerate performance in order to fast-track the implementation of national plans. 

She directed Dr. Nchemba to closely supervise Cabinet ministers to ensure the administration maintains the required pace and delivers results for citizens.
