The National Sports Council (NSC) has announced a new date for the Tanzania Taekwondo Federation (TTF) General Elections, which will now take place on November 15 at the Njiro Complex in Arusha.
The election had earlier been slated for November 8 but has been postponed due to national security considerations arising during the current election period.
NSC’s Information and Communication Officer, Najaha Bakari, said the change aims to provide more room for qualified candidates to collect and return nomination forms and to ensure that all leadership positions within the federation are fully contested.
She noted that some posts, including the Treasurer and one Executive Committee member, had not yet attracted candidates.
She explained that the extension offers an opportunity to complete the leadership structure in a way that promotes the growth and management of Taekwondo across the country.
The deadline for collecting and submitting nomination forms has now been moved to November 12, while the screening of candidates will be conducted on November 14, just a day before voting.
Najaha also reminded registered members of TTF to ensure they have settled their membership fees so they remain eligible to participate in the election process.
She emphasized that only members in good standing will be allowed to vote.
The nomination fee for the position of President remains at TZS150,000, while those seeking the posts of Vice President, Parmanent Secretary, Treasurer, Technical Director and Competition Director will pay TZS100,000.
Candidates vying for the two Executive Committee member positions will be required to pay TZS50,000 each.
The upcoming election is expected to result in a complete leadership team capable of steering the sport forward and strengthening its presence both locally and internationally.
