Moshi.Youth in the country have been urged to use all their strength to protect the existing constitution due to the fact that the constitution is the foundation of the country's development.
The call was made on Thursday by the Moshi Rural District’s CCM Youth Wing Chairman Yuvenal Shirima, while receiving 14 youths from 10 regions of Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to promote peace and civic participation ahead of the elections.
“The Constitution is the country’s main leadership guideline, it defines the systems and rules for the government, so it is good that we Tanzanians, especially the youth, use all our strength to protect it so that peace continues to exist in the country and provide an opportunity for development activities to be carried out peacefully”, he said
He also advised Tanzanians to refrain from and ignore those who are making statements that contribute to disrupting the general elections expected to be held later this year, including those who say that they will hold demonstrations to protest the elections.
“Our Constitution establishes our democratic form of government as well as guaranteeing the people the right to vote, so it is good that we turn out in large numbers on the election day to vote because it is our constitutional right to do so”, he said.
Shirima said that, if the Constitution is protected, the people will continue to use it for the development of the country so it is good that it is protected and respected by all Tanzanians regardless of their political ideologies.
Commenting on the event, Shirima commended the organizers and the participants of the event, which he said has informed the Tanzanian public and the world in general of the good work done by President Samia Suluhu Hassan and her government in general.
“The exercise you have undertaken is commendable as you have provided many Tanzanians the opportunity to learn about the good work done by President Dr Samia in the short time of four years of her leadership”, he said.
He added, “I promise you that the message you brought and handed over to the Moshi district government leadership through the flag you brought from the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro will reach all Tanzanians so that they too can gain an understanding of the good work done by their government”.
Giving a report on the Mount Kilimanjaro climbing event, the Executive Secretary of the Nguvu Kazi Kizimkazi organization Abusufiani Yakuti Juma said the tour involved a total of 14 youth from Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar whereby he said they all reached at the Uhuru peak located at the summit of the tallest mountain in Africa.
“This climbing tour aimed to encourage Tanzanians to come out in large numbers to participate in the general elections expected to be held on October 29, this year”.
He added, “By doing so, Tanzanians will have the opportunity to fulfill their constitutional duty that gives them the opportunity to elect leaders who are suitable to lead our Nation”.
He added, “We advise our fellow Tanzanians, especially the youth, to ignore those who are making statements that indicate disrupting this year’s elections, either by holding demonstrations or in any other way; instead, we advise them to use that power to come out in large numbers to exercise their constitutional right to vote”.
He said that during the visit, the youth group succeeded in setting a flag which had a picture of President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, as a sign of appreciation for the good work done by the leader who is currently the Presidential candidate for the Presidency of the United Republic of Tanzania through the CCM ticket.
