TISEZA urges investors to explore Kwala industrial zone

The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) has called on local and foreign investors to capitalize on opportunities at the Kwala industrial cluster in Coast Region, where the government has created a favorable environment to attract industries.

Speaking during a special tour organized for journalists from Coast and Dar es Salaam, TISEZA’s Acting Manager for Public Relations and Communication, Ms. Aderina Rushekya, said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote four strategic economic areas launched on August 12, 2025.

She explained that Kwala offers a unique advantage for investors as it is connected to the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and hosts an inland dry port, both of which simplify logistics and reduce operational costs.

“One of the major benefits is that every investor will be given one acre of land free of charge, in addition to enjoying various tax exemptions,” she said.

“Our main objective is to encourage more Tanzanians to invest in their own country, create jobs, boost industries and ensure that the economic gains remain within Tanzania.”she added

Currently, the government has designated four strategic areas for investment Bagamoyo (151 acres), Buzwagi (1,333 acres), Nala in Dodoma (607 acres), and Kwala (100 acres).

Investors are required to establish factories within 12 months and provide at least 100 direct jobs as part of the conditions.

As part of the visit, journalists toured Sinosea Factory, which produces refrigerators and freezers for both home and commercial use.

The factory’s Assistant Manager, Mr. Gerald Thilia, said the plant has so far employed 30 Tanzanians and has the capacity to produce 100 small refrigerators per day.

He noted that beyond creating employment, the factory has also built the technical skills of young Tanzanians, who are now able to run operations with limited supervision.
