The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has extended the undergraduate admission process, opening a third and final window for programmes that still have spaces.
The move follows requests from universities and the Tanzania Higher Learning Institutions Students’ Organisation (TAHLISO), who appealed for more time to accommodate applicants who missed out in earlier rounds.
Speaking in Morogoro yesterday, TCU Executive Secretary Prof. Charles Kihampa said the third phase of admission will run from October 6 to October 10, 2025.
“The Commission has decided to open a third and last round of admission to give room for applicants who were not successful in the first two rounds, as well as for programmes that still have vacancies,” Prof. Kihampa said.
He urged prospective students who did not submit applications or failed to secure admission in earlier rounds to use this opportunity to apply to universities of their choice.
At the same time, Prof. Kihampa directed higher learning institutions to continue publicising programmes with available slots and to strictly follow the guidelines for the third round of admission.
The TCU boss also reminded students who were admitted to more than one university in the second round, as well as those who failed to confirm admission in the first round, that they must confirm their choice between October 6 and October 19, 2025.
Confirmation is done using a special code sent via SMS or email to the applicants. Those who do not receive the code on time are advised to log into the admission systems of the universities where they were admitted and request the code to complete the process,” he explained.
He added that confirmation must be done through the same account that applicants used when applying for admission. A list of students admitted to more than one institution will be available on the TCU website (www.tcu.go.tz) from October 6, 2025.
TCU has already completed two rounds of undergraduate admission for the 2025/2026 academic year. Universities will publish the list of students admitted during the second round starting October 6, 2025.
