Tanzania Prisons claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Mbeya City in today’s Mbeya Derby of the NBC Tanzania Mainland Premier League at KMC Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The first half ended goalless, with both sides struggling to break through tight defenses, leaving the score at 0-0 at halftime.

Tanzania Prisons came out stronger in the second half, controlling possession and mounting several attacks. In the 70th minute, Jeremiah Juma opened the scoring, giving the visitors the lead.

Three minutes later, Haruna Chanoonga doubled the advantage, putting Tanzania Prisons in a commanding position.

Mbeya City fought back and pulled a goal back in the 88th minute through Daniel Lukandamila, but it was too late to change the outcome. The match ended 2-1 in favor of Tanzania Prisons.

Speaking after the game, Mbeya City’s head coach attributed the defeat to fatigue and playing consecutive matches. He also noted that Tanzania Prisons had more preparation time, giving them an edge.

“We accept the result. Our opponents anticipated our moves well, but we will learn from our mistakes and prepare better for the next match,” he said.
