Tanzania is stepping up efforts to strengthen economic partnerships with international institutions to drive private sector growth and sustainable development.

This follows a high-level meeting between a Tanzanian delegation led by the Ministry of Finance Parmanent Secretary, Dr. Natu El-maamry Mwamba, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group.

The meeting, held under the leadership of IFC’s East Africa Director, Ms. Mary Peschka, focused on expanding cooperation to support Tanzania’s National Development Vision 2050.

Key discussions included launching the new AgroConnect program to boost agribusiness, promoting clean and affordable energy, and enhancing financial sector development.

The meeting brought together senior officials, including Tanzania’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Elsie Kanza; Government Accountant, CPA Leonard Mkude; Commissioner of Public Debt Management, Mr. Japhet Justine; Assistant Commissioner from the External Finance Department, Mr. Robert Mtengule; and the World Bank Resident Representative in Tanzania, Mr. Nathan Belete.

Dr. Mwamba emphasized that the collaboration with IFC would help mobilize private investment, support sustainable development initiatives, and strengthen Tanzania’s economic resilience.
