Residents of Tanga now have a chance to cook with safe and clean energy, thanks to the Rural Energy Agency (REA), which is selling six-kilogram gas stoves at a subsidized price of TZS 17,500.
Regional Commissioner of Tanga, Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Batilda Buriani, praised REA for making clean energy affordable and accessible.
She urged residents attending the 2025 World Food Week celebrations at Usagara Primary School to take advantage of the offer.
“Clean and safe energy is important for every household. I encourage everyone to buy these stoves and reduce the health risks from traditional cooking fuels,” RC Buriani said during the event on October 11, 2025.
REA Project Engineer Ramadhani Mganga said the agency plans to sell 500 gas stoves during the celebrations.
He explained that the initiative aims to promote clean cooking energy and reduce reliance on firewood and charcoal, which harm health and the environment.
Mganga also highlighted REA’s affordable loans for building and running small petrol and diesel stations in rural areas, helping communities access essential fuel services.
REA’s presence at the national food week celebrations is part of a broader effort to ensure households and institutions serving more than 100 people use safe, clean, and sustainable energy solutions.
