The National World Food Day Week has officially kicked off today, October 11, 2025, with Tanga Regional Commissioner, Ambassador Batilda Burian, leading the opening ceremony at Usagara grounds in Tanga City.
The week-long event, which runs until October 16, has brought together local and international stakeholders to discuss ways to strengthen Tanzania’s food systems and ensure long-term food security.
This year’s theme, “Join Together for Better Food for the Future,” underscores the need for unity, innovation, and shared responsibility in building sustainable food systems that can support both present and future generations.
The Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB), one of the key institutions supporting the agricultural sector, has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering farmers and agro-businesses through affordable financing.
The bank’s initiatives aim to boost productivity, promote value addition, and foster a shift toward modern, climate-smart, and profitable agriculture.
Speaking during the event, TADB officials said the bank’s mission aligns with the government’s goal of achieving national food self-sufficiency.
The bank is working closely with development partners to enhance access to nutritious, safe, and affordable food for all Tanzanians.
The World Food Day celebrations provide a platform for policymakers, farmers, and private sector players to share best practices, innovations, and strategies that can shape Tanzania’s journey toward a resilient and food-secure future.
