The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) has won the 2025 Best Customer Service Award among public institutions in the energy sector, during the national Customer Service Week celebrations held from October 6–10, 2025.

The awards ceremony, held at the Mlimani City Hall in Dar es Salaam, brought together various organizations from both the public and private sectors that provide essential services across the country.

Speaking during the event, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dr. Hashil Abdallah, who officiated as the Guest of Honour, commended all participating institutions for demonstrating innovation and dedication in service delivery.

He emphasized that public institutions have a greater responsibility to ensure that citizens receive quality, timely, and efficient services that meet customer expectations.

“I congratulate all the institutions that have received these awards and those who organized them, because such recognition shows that their efforts are being closely monitored. Even those who did not win have learned valuable lessons on how to improve their services,” said Dr. Abdallah.

On her part, TANESCO’s Director of Communication and Customer Service, Ms. Irene Gowelle, expressed gratitude to the award organizers, noting that the award is a reflection of the company’s ongoing commitment and strategic efforts to improve customer experience.

“This award will further motivate our staff to continue working hard and providing excellent service to all Tanzanians. We are truly proud to be the only public institution that won a customer service award in 2025,” Ms. Gowelle stated.

She also extended appreciation to the Government of the Sixth Phase, under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for its continued investment in TANESCO through the Ministry of Energy, which has strengthened the reliability and quality of electricity services in the country.

The awards were organized by the National Committee for Customer Service Week, coordinated by CSW Tanzania Events, with the aim of recognizing and celebrating institutions and companies that demonstrate outstanding performance in customer service delivery.
