TANAPA’s blood donation drive boosts emergency care in Geita

By The Respondents Reporter

Residents in Geita now have a stronger lifeline in medical emergencies, thanks to the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) and Rubondo Island National Park, which have donated over 28 units of safe blood to Chato Zonal Referral Hospital (CZRH).

The donation comes at a time when hospitals face increasing demand for blood in critical cases. Dr. Imani Kikoti, Head of Rubondo National Park and Assistant Commissioner of Conservation, said the voluntary blood drive reflects TANAPA’s commitment to the well-being of local communities.

“By donating blood, we are directly supporting citizens who might otherwise face life-threatening delays in treatment,” he said.

Dr. Brian Mawalla, CEO of CZRH, hailed the initiative as a lifesaving intervention and encouraged other institutions to follow TANAPA’s example.

“Every unit of blood donated can save multiple lives,” he noted, urging more organizations to take active roles in community healthcare.

The initiative highlights the growing importance of partnerships between public institutions and healthcare facilities in Tanzania.

Beyond conservation, TANAPA’s involvement demonstrates how organizations can contribute to social welfare, ensuring communities have timely access to critical medical services.
