SGR Tabora–Kigoma section reaches 7.88% of completion


The construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) section from Tabora to Kigoma, spanning 506 kilometers, has reached 7.88 percent completion under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The project, which is expected to cost TZS 5.72 trillion (approximately USD 2.2 billion), is one of the key components of Tanzania’s ambitious railway modernization drive. 

Upon completion, it is projected to create over 3,000 jobs and enhance trade and passenger movement between central and western regions.

According to the construction schedule, the Tabora–Kigoma section is expected to be completed within six years, providing a modern and reliable transport link that will contribute to economic growth and regional integration.
