Ubungo Constituency parliamentary candidate on the ruling CCM ticket, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, has commended residents of Mburahati Ward for their continued cooperation in driving community development over the past five years.
Speaking during the launch of CCM’s campaign for Mburahati Ward councilor candidate, Benedictor Joseph Malange, Prof. Kitila said the ward has recorded significant progress in improving education, markets, and infrastructure through joint efforts between the people and their leaders.
“We have worked together to upgrade primary schools, construct the Mburahati market, improve roads, and establish footbridges. Our unity has been key to achieving visible development,” said Prof. Kitila.
He called on residents to elect leaders capable of effectively implementing government plans, both at the ward and parliamentary levels, to sustain the momentum of development.
Prof. Kitila said the Ubungo Municipal Council, which currently has 14 councilors, relies on collaboration among elected representatives to plan and execute budgets that address local priorities.
Outlining his key priorities if re-elected as MP, he pledged to channel TSh 2 billion from the Constituency Development Fund to tarmac two major roads the Madoto–Mburahati stretch and the Barafu–Magomeni road, the latter being implemented under the UNDP-supported project.
He added that, together with Mr. Malange, they will push for the upgrading of two additional roads Tegemeo and Mama Telesa to tarmac level, with both leaders committing contributions from their respective development budgets.
Prof. Kitila further underscored the strength of the CCM manifesto, which he described as “thoroughly researched and containing 261 key priorities,” particularly in health and education sectors.
He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare through the universal health insurance scheme, which will cover 20 million Tanzanians, and applauded President Samia Suluhu Hassan for sustaining the free education policy from primary to advanced secondary levels.
For his part, Mr. Malange pledged to fulfill the directives given by Prof. Kitila and to ensure effective supervision of all community projects in Mburahati.
His priorities include overseeing the construction of pedestrian bridges in Nation House and Barafu streets, upgrading Mburahati dispensary to a health centre, and ensuring fair access to youth and women’s development loans.
He also committed to improving Mburahati Secondary School by fencing its compound and strengthening cooperation between teachers and parents to improve students’ performance.
Mr. Malange urged residents to turn out in large numbers on October 29 to vote for CCM candidates President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo for Ubungo Constituency, and himself as councilor saying their election would guarantee continued progress for the ward.
“Our goal is to build a modern Mburahati with better roads, reliable clean water supply, quality education, and improved healthcare facilities,” said Mr. Malange.
“Let us move forward together under CCM for sustainable development.”he added
