The Ministry of Energy, together with the Rural Energy Agency (REA) and the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), has attracted a large number of visitors at the ongoing World Food Week Exhibition in Tanga.
Citizens flocked to the ministry’s pavilion to access information on clean cooking energy and updates on ongoing electricity, natural gas, and fuel projects.
The event also offered subsidized gas stoves at TZS 17,500, which drew particularly high interest.
Mr. Nolasco Mlay, Director of Clean Cooking Energy at the Ministry, expressed his satisfaction with the public turnout.
“The strong response from citizens collecting subsidized gas stoves and learning about clean energy solutions is very encouraging. It reflects growing awareness and commitment to the government’s Clean Cooking Energy Agenda, especially here in Tanga,” Mr. Mlay said.
He called on all Tanzanians to adopt clean cooking energy, emphasizing that it is safe for both health and the environment.
Mr. Mlay added that the government is promoting clean energy use in households and institutions serving more than 100 people, aiming to achieve 80% nationwide adoption of clean cooking energy by 2034.
