Simba Sports Club Assistant Coach, Suleiman Matola, has voiced confidence that the team’s strong start to the NBC Premier League will continue until the end of the season.
The Reds of Msimbazi cruised to a 3-0 victory over Namungo in a match played yesterday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, a result that cemented their position at the top of the table.
So far, Simba have collected six points from two matches, scoring six goals and conceding none. With the league now on hold due to the FIFA international break, Matola believes his players have set the right momentum for the campaign.
“Our goal is to collect three points in every game, and we have started well. I am impressed with the players’ performance and teamwork. Everyone who gets a chance to play has shown they can score,” said Matola.
He, however, admitted there is still room for improvement in finishing.“We are creating many chances but not converting enough of them. That is a minor issue, and we will return to the training ground to polish it,” he added.
Namungo Head Coach, Juma Mgunda, acknowledged Simba’s quality, saying his team paid the price for repeated mistakes.
“We lost because we faced a team with top-quality players who punished us whenever we slipped. Our errors cost us the game, though we knew the kind of opponent we were up against,” said Mgunda.
He added that the FIFA break will provide his side with the opportunity to regroup and prepare for the next fixtures.
“We have identified our mistakes, and we will use this period to make corrections and improve before the league resumes,” Mgunda noted.
