Lupa parliamentary candidate Masache Kasaka has appealed to the government to accelerate the extension of electricity to small-scale gold mining areas, particularly in Kiwanja Ward in Chunya District, Mbeya Region, saying reliable power is crucial for boosting productivity and local economic growth.
Speaking in Makongorosi Town, Masache made the appeal while addressing residents during a campaign rally attended by Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, the running mate to CCM’s presidential candidate, President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Masache said access to electricity would enable small-scale miners to use modern equipment, increase efficiency, and reduce production costs creating more jobs and enhancing government revenues.
“The mining sector supports thousands of livelihoods in Chunya. Extending electricity to these sites will not only improve operations but also uplift the lives of ordinary Tanzanians who depend on this activity,” he said.
The candidate also called on the government to repossess undeveloped mining plots and establish a transparent allocation system that prioritises active small-scale miners.
Masache further commended the government for its continued investment in the mining sector, noting that the price of gold has climbed to TZS300,000 per gram a gain that has translated into higher individual incomes and stronger state revenue.
Dr. Nchimbi, who addressed a large crowd in Makongorosi, urged voters to support President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Masache Kasaka in the forthcoming general election, saying their leadership would continue driving Tanzania’s economic transformation and inclusive development.
