The Korosho Queens volleyball team presented an honorary award to the Tanzania Cashew Board (CBT) in recognition of its unwavering support in sponsoring the team’s participation in volleyball competitions organized by the Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF) for the third consecutive season.
The ceremony was held at the Tanzania Cashew Board headquarters and attended by the guest of honor, Mtwara District Administrative Secretary, Advocate Richard Mwalingo, representing the District Commissioner of Mtwara.
The award included a framed Korosho Queens jersey, presented to the CBT Director General as a symbol of gratitude and respect for the board’s commitment to supporting women’s sports.
In his address, team manager Hussein Kibombwe expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Tanzania Cashew Board for its role in empowering the young athletes, who have consistently delivered impressive results locally and internationally.
He highlighted that the board’s support will help the players achieve their goals and realize their dreams.
The CBT Director General, in response, thanked the players and team management for their dedication and excellence, noting how their achievements have positively promoted the Mtwara and Lindi communities.
He pledged continued sponsorship and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong performance in future competitions.
Advocate Richard Mwalingo praised the Tanzania Cashew Board for its significant contribution to community development through sports.
He described the young athletes as a national asset with immense potential in women’s sports.
He also underscored the government’s commitment, led by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, to supporting institutions like CBT in promoting women’s sports, which play a vital role in the country’s long-term vision for 2050, particularly in generating youth employment.
In addition, the Tanzania Cashew Board announced plans to organize the “Korosho Marathon” under the theme “Eat Cashews for Health,” aiming to encourage communities to consume cashew products and highlight their economic and health benefits.
