Morogoro residents urged to vote peacefully in tomorrow’s elections

As Tanzania heads to the polls tomorrow, over 2.1 million registered voters in Morogoro Region have been urged to exercise their democratic right peacefully and responsibly.

Morogoro Regional Commissioner Adam Malima told journalists that all preparations for the elections, including the delivery of materials to 5,860 polling stations, have been successfully completed.

“Every arrangement has been made to ensure a smooth and transparent voting process. I urge all registered voters to participate and make their voices heard,” Malima said.

He called on employers to allow staff to attend their polling stations and encouraged voters to arrive early, avoid congestion, and leave promptly after casting their ballots. Special arrangements have been put in place for persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and the elderly to ensure an inclusive process.

“The security and peace of the election process have been fully guaranteed. Voting is a celebration of our democratic rights, not a source of conflict,” Malima emphasized.

Morogoro Regional Administrative Secretary Dr. Mussa Ali Mussa reminded residents that the hilly terrain of the region could cause delays in compiling results, urging patience and calm.

“While waiting for results, we ask residents to remain patient. Delays are normal given our geography, and we must continue to uphold peace and order,” he said.

Local youths also expressed their commitment to a peaceful process. “We focus on earning our livelihoods peacefully and want elections to pass without disruptions so we can continue our daily lives,” said Issa Juma, a resident of Morogoro Municipality.

Authorities reiterated that voting is not only a right but also a civic duty. The peaceful conduct of elections in Morogoro will demonstrate the region’s unity, maturity, and commitment to democratic values.
