Katavi ready for general elections with new polling stations

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairperson, Justice of Appeal Jacobs Mwambegele, has inspected preparations for 83 out of 90 new polling stations in Tanganyika District, Katavi Region. 

These stations have been established for residents of the former wards of Ilangu, Ipwaga, Bulamata, and Mishamo, which were dissolved under the Local Government (District Authorities) Act, Cap. 287.

Justice Mwambegele visited Tongwe Ward in Luhafwe hamlet, accompanied by the Katavi Regional Election Coordinator, the Tanganyika Constituency Election Supervisor, and other electoral officials, to review readiness ahead of the nationwide General Elections of the President, Members of Parliament, and Councilors scheduled for October 29, 2025.

After the visit, Justice Mwambegele expressed satisfaction with the preparations and encouraged all eligible voters to actively participate in the elections.

Tanganyika Constituency Election Supervisor, Ms. Kagemlo Charles Mutagwaba, highlighted ongoing voter awareness campaigns in the affected areas, saying that residents are fully mobilized and ready to take part in the elections.

Justice Mwambegele is on an official tour of Katavi, Kigoma, and Tabora regions to monitor the reception of electoral materials, the readiness of polling stations, and training of election staff.
