Zitto vows to scrap school contributions if elected in Kigoma Urban

Kigoma Urban parliamentary candidate Zitto Kabwe of ACT Wazalendo has promised to eliminate all school contributions in the municipality if his party wins both the parliamentary seat and control of Kigoma Urban Council.

Speaking on October 26, 2025, in Mwanga South Ward, Zitto concluded his door-to-door campaign across all 19 wards of the constituency. He said removing these levies would ease the financial burden on parents.

“It is unfair for parents to pay for school security or electricity. That is the government’s responsibility. We will end these unnecessary contributions,” Zitto said.

Zitto also outlined plans to boost the education sector in the municipality by establishing new secondary schools and upgrading four existing schools to offer Forms Five and Six.

“We want four high schools in our town—two focusing on science and two on arts. We will also increase the number of secondary schools so that every child has access to quality education,” he added.

He urged residents not to be swayed by promises that undermine education, noting that education is a key tool in eradicating poverty.

“Do not let anyone mislead you. Education is vital. Even religious texts instruct us to seek knowledge, even from distant places like China,” Zitto said.

Zitto is expected to officially close his campaign on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, after completing his ward-by-ward outreach in Kigoma Urban.
