The Head of the Twariqa Tanzania Islamic Organisation, Sheikh Said Hamis Migire, has emphasized the importance of every Tanzanian taking personal responsibility in preserving peace and stability before, during, and after the October 29, 2025 General Election.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a special prayer for peace held at the organisation’s headquarters — Zawia Kuu in Arusha — and attended by hundreds of worshippers from different regions, Sheikh Migire compared peace to an egg, saying once it breaks, it is almost impossible to restore.
“Peace is like an egg — once broken, it is very hard to put back together. We have witnessed many African nations that lost peace and are now regretting. Tanzanians must think carefully before taking any action that could threaten our unity and stability,” he said.
He urged citizens to avoid all forms of provocation and violence, warning that justice cannot be achieved through chaos or protests, but through dialogue and mutual respect.
For his part, Twariqa Tanzania Deputy Secretary-General, Sheikh Haruna Hussen, called on religious leaders across the country to join hands in praying for continued peace and harmony.
“As religious leaders, we have a duty to preach peace day and night. Peace is the foundation of our nation. We urge Tanzanians not to be deceived but to hold on to our peace with both hands,” he said.
The prayer session concluded with collective prayers for national unity and tolerance ahead of the upcoming elections, with calls for citizens to maintain moral values, respect, and patience toward political leaders.
