Tanzania’s High Court is set to hear a crucial case on today, that could influence the outcome of the October 29 general election.
The case involves ACT Wazalendo presidential candidate Luhaga Joelson Mpina, who is challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Attorney General over a decision barring him from contesting.
The hearing, scheduled for 2 p.m. at the High Court’s main registry in Dodoma, will be presided over by three judges: Justice Frederick Manyanda, Justice Sylvester Kainda, and Justice Abdallah Gonzi.
ACT Wazalendo has urged its supporters, party leaders, and candidates across the country to continue campaigning and engaging with voters while awaiting the court’s decision.
“The people deserve transparency and fairness. We remain hopeful the High Court will deliver a just ruling that respects the democratic process,” said a party spokesperson.
Observers say the court’s decision could have a major impact on campaign strategies and voter confidence in the final weeks before the election, as citizens closely watch developments that may shape the political landscape.
