The High Court of Tanzania (Main Registry) in Dodoma is set to deliver a decisive judgment today in a constitutional case filed against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Attorney General.

The case, registered as No. 24027 of 2025, is being heard by a three-judge panel comprising Justice Frederick Manyanda, Justice Sylvester Kainda, and Justice Abdallah Gonzi.

The outcome of this case is widely regarded as pivotal, not only for the candidate involved but also for its broader implications on the country’s democratic processes and constitutional governance.

Legal analysts note that the ruling could set important precedents affecting electoral oversight and the enforcement of constitutional rights in Tanzania.

In a related development, another case No. 23617 filed by ACT Wazalendo and Mr. Luhaga Joelson Mpina against the Registrar of Political Parties and the Attorney General, is now scheduled to be determined through written submissions, with the verdict expected on October 17, 2025.

Initially slated for oral hearings, the change followed government objections to certain legal arguments. The case is being overseen by Hon. Justice Dr. Angelo Rumisha.

ACT Wazalendo has urged its members, supporters, and stakeholders to closely follow the proceedings and be prepared to receive the court’s decisions, emphasizing the importance of judicial transparency in safeguarding democratic processes.
