The fate of Tanzanian football clubs Azam FC and KMKM in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage will be decided tomorrow when the second-leg match kicks off at 5:00 PM at the Azam Complex Stadium in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam.
Azam holds an advantage after a 2-0 win over KMKM in the first-leg match played at New Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar. Despite this, both teams are preparing for a competitive showdown.
Azam assistant coach Kassim Liogope said the team is focused on making history by advancing to the group stage.
“We know the type of team we are facing and have studied their performance in the previous match. Tomorrow’s game will be different and extremely important. This is an opportunity to write a new chapter in Tanzanian football,” Liogope said.
He added that every Azam player is motivated to perform at their best. “About 80 percent of KMKM players are young and talented, eager to show their skills. We will be cautious to protect our goal while taking advantage of scoring opportunities,” Liogope explained.
Azam player Aishi Manula echoed the sentiment, noting that the match will be challenging. “KMKM will come well-prepared after analyzing the first-leg mistakes. To achieve our goal, we must be alert across all positions,” he said.
On the KMKM side, head coach Hababuu Omary said his team is ready to overturn the deficit. “Losing at home has taught us lessons. This match is part of our preparation for the Zanzibar Premier League next season. We know it will be tough, but we are ready to play our best,” Omary said.
KMKM captain Martin Londo confirmed that his players are prepared and motivated. “Azam is a strong team, but we have planned carefully to compete and aim for a positive result,” he said.
Azam media officer Hashim Ibwe announced that stadium gates will open at 10:00 AM tomorrow. He urged fans to come in large numbers to witness history.
“General admission is free, while VIP sections A and B are reserved for special guests,” Ibwe said.
With both teams determined to secure victory, tomorrow’s match promises intense action as they fight for a historic place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
