The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sports development in Tanzania following Simba Sports Club’s remarkable victory in the CAF Champions League qualifiers.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, and Government Spokesperson, Mr. Gerson Msigwa, on Thursday handed over TZS15 million to Simba SC on behalf of President Samia Suluhu Hassan as a token of appreciation for their success.

Mr. Msigwa said the gesture symbolizes the Government’s recognition of sports as a key pillar for youth engagement, national unity, and international visibility.

“President Samia is keen to ensure that sports continue to flourish in the country. This reward is a sign of her encouragement to all Tanzanian teams representing our nation globally,” he said.

He added that the Government will continue working closely with sports associations and clubs to improve infrastructure, nurture talent, and strengthen professionalism across various disciplines.

Receiving the reward, Simba SC officials thanked the Government for its continuous support and assured fans of their determination to go even further in the CAF Champions League.

Simba SC earned the recognition after defeating Nsingizini Hotspurs of Eswatini 3–0 in the return leg match played on October 19, 2025, securing a place in the tournament’s group stage.
