The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has cautioned the public against using communication services, including internet provision, data centres, and cyber-security solutions, that are not licensed by the authority.
Under Section 14 of the Electronic and Postal Communications Act (EPOCA), 2010, providing such services without a valid TCRA licence is illegal.
The law aims to protect users and ensure the security and reliability of communication networks across the country.
TCRA urged citizens to verify the credentials of service providers before using their services.
“Engaging unlicensed providers exposes users to potential legal, financial, and security risks,” said a TCRA spokesperson.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring compliance in the communications sector and warned that anyone found operating without a licence will face strict legal action, including fines and prosecution.
TCRA also encouraged members of the public to report unlicensed communication service providers to ensure a safe and secure digital environment in Tanzania.
