TanTrade, Iran step up efforts to broaden trade cooperation

The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has held discussions with a delegation of Iranian business leaders in a bid to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries.

The meeting, held at TanTrade headquarters on Kilwa Road in Dar es Salaam, explored opportunities in a wide range of sectors including minerals, petroleum, electricity, natural gas, pharmaceuticals, medical cotton, technology, gold, copper, niobium, manganese, coal, iron, and telecommunications.

TanTrade used the platform to connect Iranian stakeholders with Tanzanian public and private institutions, underscoring the need for collaboration that aligns with the country’s Development Vision 2050. 

The Authority said partnerships with Iran could help open new markets, transfer technology, and create value-added industries in Tanzania.

“This engagement is part of our commitment to building sustainable trade partnerships that bring tangible benefits to Tanzanians,” a TanTrade official said. 

“By linking Iranian investors with our local institutions, we are paving the way for new business ventures and deeper economic ties.”he added

The Iranian delegation expressed interest in leveraging Tanzania’s strategic location as a regional trade hub and highlighted the potential for joint ventures in sectors that support industrial growth and job creation.

Both sides agreed to maintain momentum through follow-up engagements aimed at translating discussions into actionable projects and trade agreements.
