NMB Bank’s Southern Highlands Zone has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening relations with the business community, promising to enhance customer service and address challenges facing traders.
At a meeting held on September 19, 2025, at Eden Hotel in Mbeya, the NMB Southern Highlands Zone Manager, Mr. Wogofya Mfalamagoha, said the bank was determined to deepen its engagement with clients through regular dialogue.
“We have been receiving feedback through social media and acting on it, but now we want to take a step further by meeting our customers face to face. We encourage traders not to wait until challenges arise before they share them. Our communication lines are always open,” he said.
Mr. Mfalamagoha commended the Mbeya business community for their cooperation, particularly in ensuring timely repayment of loans, which he said was key to sustaining mutual trust and long-term partnerships.
NMB Bank’s Head of Business Banking, Mr. Alex Mgeni, used the forum to announce that the bank’s mobile service, NMB Mkononi, which was previously limited to personal accounts, had been expanded to cover business accounts.
“A trader can now deposit money and make transactions conveniently using NMB Mkononi. We also plan to roll out mobile-based loans so that customers will no longer have to visit branches and fill in forms. This will allow them to access credit directly from wherever they are,” he explained.
The development was welcomed by traders who attended the meeting. Mr. Erick Chaula, a businessman from Tunduma in Songwe Region, praised NMB’s lending services, describing them as a catalyst for business growth.
However, he appealed to the bank to improve the speed of loan processing and disbursement.
“Sometimes you complete all the requirements, but the loan takes too long sometimes up to four months—before it is released. This creates challenges because traders often have immediate business goals. We urge NMB to address this issue,” said Mr. Chaula.
The engagement in Mbeya is part of NMB Bank’s broader strategy to strengthen relationships with its customers nationwide while ensuring its services align with the evolving needs of Tanzania’s business community.
