The first-ever Mkwawa Rally of Tanzania is set to roar into Morogoro from September 19 to 21, 2025, with 23 drivers already registered to take part in the high-speed motorsport event.
At the rally’s launch, Dr. Mosi Makau, chief organizer, said preparations were 95 percent complete, with the competition scheduled at the TFS tree plantation and the Tungi sisal farm in Morogoro Municipality.
Dr. Makau noted that some participants are top-tier drivers, vying for the African championship title, signaling the rally’s growing prominence on the continent.
Emanuel Mhagama, representing Mkwawa Leaf, said the company is working closely with the government, through the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Sports, to ensure the rally runs smoothly.
He highlighted that participants include experienced drivers from Uganda, Kenya, India, and Burundi, reflecting the event’s international appeal.
Security is set to be tight and comprehensive, assured Gwakisa Mahige, head of security, who said no unauthorized vehicles would be allowed at the race venues until the event concludes.
He urged spectators and residents to follow all safety rules, warning that anyone attempting to disrupt the rally would face strict measures.
Satinder Birdi, Director of Tanzania Motorsports, confirmed that the 23 cars and their teams are expected to arrive in the country early this week.
He also called on fans to follow safety instructions to enjoy the event without risk.
The Mkwawa Rally is expected to deliver thrilling competition, showcase top driving talent, and raise Morogoro’s profile in regional motorsports.
