Lindi Municipal Council has committed to working closely with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) to strengthen business development and improve tax compliance through the launch of a new Business Facilitation Desk.

Municipal Director Juma Mnwele said the council was ready to support TRA in reaching more entrepreneurs and traders by helping them formalize their businesses and understand their obligations as taxpayers.

“We want to see our entrepreneurs recognized, empowered, and contributing positively to the economy. This desk will play a central role in guiding them towards responsible business practices,” Mr. Mnwele said during the launch held at the municipal offices on September 4.

The event also saw 172 graduates from the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) in Lindi Region awarded certificates, marking a double milestone in both education and economic empowerment.

TRA’s Acting Regional Manager, Mr. Faraji Mkikima, thanked the council for its collaboration and encouraged the entrepreneurs present to act as ambassadors of the initiative.

“We urge you to spread the word about this desk so that more business operators can benefit from its services. The more we work together, the stronger our businesses and national economy will become,” he said.

The Business Facilitation Desk is expected to provide information, advisory services, and hands-on support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Lindi, ensuring they are better equipped to grow sustainably while complying with tax regulations.
